Prescription Ordering

Prescription Ordering

The Practice will issue regular medication (repeat prescriptions) automatically, this means you do not need to contact the Practice and ask for it to be re-prescribed.

Patients will need to order any ‘As Required’ and variable dose medications such as:

  • Pain relief
  • Inhalers
  • Nasal sprays
  • Eye drops
  • Creams and ointments
  • Insulin and other diabetic equipment
  • Liquid medication

Please click on the following link to view our leaflet on How to order your medication

Prescriptions will be available to collect from the surgery the day before your prescription is due.

Patients who have signed up with a Chemist for the ‘Electronic Prescription Service’ can collect their medication from the Pharmacy on the day the medication is due.

How many days before the due date will my prescription be ready to collect.
Will I be notified in any way, or be able to check on line whether it has been issued?

    Thanks

      Hi

Your prescription will be available to at the chemist on the day that it is due. If you collect your prescriptions from the surgery then you will be able to collect from the surgery the day before it is due, you will not be able to the items from the chemist until the date on the prescription. If you use online services then it will tell you the items that have been automatically issued and for what date.

      Thank you

      Hi

You will only need to order medication that does not have a set amount e.g. pain relief that is taken as and when required, any cream or any liquid medication.

      Thank you

Will the prescription be available every 28days or calendar monthly and what happens if that date falls on a weekend.
If it is done calendar monthly I would run out before the next prescription is due.

      Hi

Prescriptions will be issued on a 28 or 56 day rotation as standard and is at the discretion of the clinician. If medication is due on a weekend or a bank holiday then our prescription team will issue any items for the previous working day.

      Thank you

      Hi

At this point we are unable to send a controlled drug electronically. These will be available at the surgery for collection, if you have a chemist nominated then we have an agreed collection date each week so you will not have to come to the surgery for this prescription.

      Thank you

      Hi

We are unable to send a text message to say when your routine medication is available at the chemist. Prescriptions sent electronically to chemists will be available to collect from the chemist on the day it is due.

      Thank you
