What happens when you contact your practice to request an appointment?

Whether you make your request by phone, on-line or visiting your practice, you will be asked to give details so that we can assess what is best for you based on your clinical need. The practice team will consider your request for an appointment or medical advice and tell you within one working day what will happen next.

This could be:

  • An appointment that day or a subsequent day
  • A phone call that day or a subsequent day
  • A text message responding to your query
  • Advice to go to a pharmacy or another NHS service.

We will decide what is best for you based on your clinical need.

Cancelling your appointment

If you have booked an appointment through a link sent to your mobile, click on the original link to cancel or re-arrange your appointment.

If you receive an appointment confirmation to your mobile a link will be sent within the confirmation message where you can cancel your appointment up to 1 hour before your appointment time.

You can also cancel appointments through SystmOnline/Airmid or NHS App.

Home Visits

Home visits requests for our housebound and nursing home patients will be assessed and triaged in the same way as all other appointment requests.

We have a lot of pressure on appointment availability and we can see 3 times as many patients in surgery than by visiting. Hence home visits are for those patients who can not come to the surgery for medical reasons. We reserve the right to decide who needs to be visited by the GP.

Requests for home visits should be made before 11am if possible.

The doctor may telephone beforehand for further information to decide if the visit is the most appropriate course of action.

Save time order your repeat prescriptions online.
